ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2024
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH - May has been known as Mental Health Awareness Month for over 70 years, and this year’s theme for Mental Health Month is “Where to Start: How to Navigate Mental Health in a Changing World.” Although society is getting more comfortable discussing mental health, it can still be hard to know where to start when it comes to taking care of your own well being. This is why we will be coming on the announcements multiple times throughout the month to give you some helpful tips on how to prioritize your mental wellness. Today’s strategy to reduce stress is to try creating a “calm space” in your home. This spot may include your favorite chair, some pictures you hang on the wall that make you feel calm, and things that help you relax, like a candle or your favorite book.
The Mental Health Club will also be selling mental health awareness bracelets at lunch this week for $5. By purchasing one of these bracelets, you earn a dress down day on each of the five Fridays throughout the month of May. This is a great opportunity for all students to learn more about mental health while also spreading awareness to the rest of the community. Thank you and have a great day Cougars!
