The Holiday Horse Show celebrated the achievements of 125 special needs riders, giving them a platform to demonstrate the skills they developed through weekly equine therapy lessons. The event inspired an audience of family and friends, showcasing the transformative power of equine-assisted activities.
NHS students played an integral role in making the event memorable. They took on various responsibilities, such as grooming and decorating horses, dressing as elves to assist Santa and Mrs. Claus with gift distribution, and spreading holiday cheer by singing Christmas carols alongside the riders as they waited to meet the festive duo. They also captured and shared moments by editing and emailing photos of riders with Santa and Mrs. Claus, served treats at the cookie and hot cocoa station, and ensured the horse barn aisles were clean and organized.
The students’ enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication shone through in every task they completed. Their volunteerism not only enhanced the event’s success but also exemplified the spirit of giving.
