We are excited to announce that Abby (DeWildt) Kanitz ’02 has been named the new principal of Catholic Central High School. A proud alumna and fourth-generation Cougar, Abby returns to her alma mater with more than 17 years of experience in education.

Reflecting on her return to Catholic Central, Abby shared, “I feel truly blessed at the opportunity to serve and lead the community that played such an integral role in my growth and development as a Catholic and an educator.” As principal, Abby is committed to guiding our school with faith and purpose, building on Catholic Central’s legacy of preparing students for a Christ-centered life. Abby earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. She most recently served as principal at West Middle School in the Byron Center Public School district.

We wish to thank members of the search committee – faculty, staff, and school board members – who enthusiastically and unanimously recommended Abby for this important position.

Abby and her husband, Brent, have four children who attend St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School. Please join us in praying for her and her family as she prepares to step into this important role in June.
