Vida de estudiante

Catholic Central takes a holistic view of student life, understanding that the spiritual, physical, and artistic gifts must be cultivated alongside intellectual development.

Students have many ways to be involved outside of the classroom, from co-curricular activities and club activities to sports and club teams to fine and performing arts. In addition, Catholic Central uniquely offers a house system to provide an intentional structure for students to connect and belong to an ‘immediate family’ with the greater CC community.

Student Life Opportunities

Service

Students participate in thousands of hours of volunteering each year and are encouraged to be of service to others.

Catholic Central students are called to model service to our community and to the world.

Service takes many forms at CC, from coordinated school-wide service projects to individual involvement in community and faith ministries. Highlights include:

  • Annual Christmas Families giving project. Students, working through their House and Coram Deo groups, adopt families for Christmas giving.
  • Annual Lenten projects
  • National Honor Society students perform four hours of community service each month at the ministry of their choosing.
  • Spring break service trip to the village Seguin, Haiti
  • Lettuce and kale grown in the student-built hydroponic system are managed, harvested, and then donated to God’s Kitchen.

Throughout the school year, upperclass Coram Deo and House leaders provide mentoring and service to the CC student community, including nurturing faith and spirituality, helping with annual class retreats, and supporting student wellbeing.

Atletismo

Over 80% of our student body participates on at least one of our 28 sports teams.

With as many opportunities for participation as possible, athletics at CC is an important part of many students’ time outside the classroom.

Annually, the vast majority of students participate in a sport, strong evidence of our commitment to providing ample opportunities for student participation, and our desire to develop our student-athletes to their fullest potential. As part of the whole person education, athletics teaches fair play, balance, life lessons, and builds character.

Performing & Fine Arts

The arts provide knowledge about the world and ways of experiencing it that contribute to a deeper global understanding.

Students experience the understanding, the appreciation, and the creation of the arts in a Catholic Christian setting.

We believe that every student is entitled to a well-rounded education that includes exposure to a variety of opportunities in the visual and performing arts. A foundation in the arts develops cognitive, analytical, problem-solving, and task completion skills, and provides an understanding of how the arts relate to history, society, and cultural awareness.

House System

The House System provides a more intentional structure for every student to belong to an ‘immediate family’ within the greater Catholic Central school community.

Inspiring Camaraderie & Character Formation

The House System provides a unique opportunity for every student to belong to an ‘immediate family’ within the greater school community. Characterized by virtue, and camaraderie, it helps to deepen relationships and provide opportunities to belong, have fun, and grow, while amplifying our mission.

The House system also offers a structure for students to flourish in a smaller community setting (Coram Deo) multiple times per week, providing them with additional opportunities to grow.

“We love the diversity at the school. Families are rich, poor, black, white, and everything in between - We're all equal in God's eyes. Who wouldn't want their child to be part of this place?”
