Faith at Catholic Central

For each and every student, finding meaning in life is both a challenge and an opportunity.

Catholic Central High School is a diocesan high school anchored to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. Initially staffed by diocesan priests and Dominican sisters, the school is rooted in the Dominican charisms of prayer, study, service, and community within the context of the wider diocesan mission. The Office of Campus Ministry serves to make these charisms relevant within the contemporary life of high school students and the larger school community. Campus Ministry is successful in its mission insofar as it engages students in these life-giving practices.

For each and every student, finding meaning in life is both a challenge and an opportunity. We believe that real meaning only comes through an unwavering, faith-filled relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others. That is why Catholic Central seeks to create a culture that supports and expresses Gospel values and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Students are invited to take part in Campus Ministry activities including service opportunities, prayer experiences, Eucharistic Adoration, and Mass. To be Catholic is to understand, in a very profound way, that we encounter God through each other, the Sacraments, Scripture, prayer, and the ordinary activities of our daily lives. Empowered by their faith, Catholic Central students develop their mind, talents, and passions, and enter the greater world ready to transform it.

Prayer

Catholic Central High School is a school of prayer. Through the daily round of scripture and intercession, students are being formed in the practice of dialogue with their God.

Each day students encounter prayer through:

  • Communal Morning Prayer (scripture and intercessory prayer)
  • Prayer to begin each class period (led by classroom teachers)

Each week, students encounter prayer experiences through:

  • Daily Mass (offered in the Cathedral before school)
  • Weekly Mass on Wednesday
  • Sacrament of Reconciliation

Catholic Central School Prayer

 Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,

implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;

to thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,

but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

"We chose CC because they go beyond religion. They also put a higher standard on academics, athletics, life skills, and social responsibility."
