QUOTE OF THE DAY
Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY – September 10, At Baumetes Prison in Marseille, France, Hamida Djandoubi, a Tunisian immigrant convicted of murder, becomes the last person executed by guillotine. In September 1981, France outlawed capital punishment altogether, thus abandoning the guillotine forever. There is a museum dedicated to the guillotine in Liden, Sweden.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:
Nearly 60 different colleges and universities are scheduled to visit our school this fall. You are invited sign-up in your Naviance account to meet various college representatives who come to CCHS. Information about each college visit is posted in Naviance under What’s New on the homepage or under the Colleges home section.
Simply log into your Naviance account- Find the list of college presentations under What’s New- Click on individual colleges to REGISTER. The presentations take place during Monday/Wednesday lunches and during Tuesday/Thursday/Friday Focus sessions. An email is sent weekly to remind students. Juniors & Seniors must get permission in advance from their teachers of Monday/Wednesday (carriers 3,4,5,7) lunch visits. It is not advisable to miss instructional time for college presentations unless the teacher has granted permission in advance for the student to sign up in Naviance. Juniors and Seniors who are signed up in Naviance on Focus days will be locked into that Focus session- PLEASE pay attention to dates/times/locations for the presentations you sign up to attend.
College rep visits at CCHS are perfect for expanding your college list or getting more personalized answers to specific college-questions. You can also learn how to schedule a campus tour. Juniors are strongly encouraged to kick-start their college planning by attending college rep visits in the fall. (More details will be sent regarding the counselors’ work with college planning in November of Junior year)
Questions about signing up for specific college visits this fall may be directed to your counselor or Mrs. Stream in the Guidance Office.

PRAYER – A DOMINICAN BLESSING FOR YOU – May God stand with you when you are uncertain and don’t know which way to turn, leaving you unsure of your path. At those times may you sense God standing beside you, longing for your happiness and gently nudging you toward your truth. May you enter the place within you that hears this God and leads you to that deep-down knowing even in the midst of uncertainty. May the Voice of God lead you and bless you. –Maxine Shonk, OP
