If you are interested in applying for Foundation Scholarships for tuition assistance for the 2020-2021 school year,  AND you have submitted your Smart Aid application,  go to the  Catholic Central website, click on admissions, scroll down to Tuition & Tuition Assistance.  There you will find  the Foundation Scholarships application form as well as descriptions of ALL Foundation Scholarships.  Deadline for submission is January 10, 2020.

Volunteer Opportunity – The Shoppe at Saint Mary’s is looking for some high school students, 16 years or older to volunteer after school hours during the week and on the weekends at the gift shop at Mercy Health Sainty Mary’s.  If interested, please apply online at or contact Volunteer Services at (616) 685-1898.

Paying For College presentation
Thursday, November 14 @ 7 pm, Catholic Central HS Student Center, 1st floor.  Our speaker, Joe Harmon, Financial Advisor for Harmon Wealth Management, shares with families the importance of having a strategy to pay for higher education regardless of your personal income, choice of college or use of financial aid.  Topics he will address are:
·         Learn the Four Step Process to Pay for College
·         How to Find Affordable Colleges
·         How Your Aid Eligibility & Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is calculated
·         How to Get More Aid
·         What to Do If You Won’t Qualify for Aid

Grand Rapids Community College offers Job Training Information Sessions including tours of the Leslie E. Tassell M-TEC on most Mondays at 10:00 a.m.  Explore state-of-the-art labs to see how a professional trades career looks and feels. Check out programs* for in-demand skills in: Automotive Technology, Computer Support Technology, Construction (Introduction, Residential), Construction Electrical, Welding These hands-on training programs vary in length from four weeks to nine months.

Designed for students in grades 7-12, these free career exploration events are like getting 5 job shadows in one!  Students & parents can hear directly from a panel of professionals, ask career questions, and tour the employer’s workspace.  Space is limited. Attention Juniors and Seniors:

Nearly 60 different colleges and universities are scheduled to visit our school this fall.  You are invited sign-up in your Naviance account to meet various college representatives who come to CCHS.  Information about each college visit is posted in Naviance under What’s New on the homepage or under the Colleges home section.

Simply log into your Naviance account- Find the list of college presentations under What’s New – Click on individual colleges to REGISTER.  The presentations take place during Monday/Wednesday lunches and during Tuesday/Thursday/Friday Focus sessions.  An email is sent weekly to remind students.  Juniors & Seniors must get permission in advance from their teachers of Monday/Wednesday (carriers 3,4,5,7) lunch visits.  It is not advisable to miss instructional time for college presentations unless the teacher has granted permission in advance for the student to sign up in Naviance.  Juniors and Seniors who are signed up in Naviance on Focus days will be locked into that Focus session- PLEASE pay attention to dates/times/locations for the presentations you sign up to attend.

College rep visits at CCHS are perfect for expanding your college list or getting more personalized answers to specific college-questions.  You can also learn how to schedule a campus tour.  Juniors are strongly encouraged to kick-start their college planning by attending college rep visits in the fall.  (More details will be sent regarding the counselors’ work with college planning in November of Junior year)
Questions about signing up for specific college visits this fall may be directed to your counselor or Mrs. Stream in the Guidance Office.

Juniors and Seniors are invited to meet with college representatives.  To secure your place in a college presentation, students must sign up 24 hours in advance through their Naviance account.
